Now, I am proud owner of two M lenses :)

It seems that I got spoilt by size of 28 Elmarit Asph. 75 cron feels big and long. But, I really like the built of the lens. Only minus part is that UV/IR filter sticks out on such a beautiful lens.

Overall, I am very happy with Leica folks. I thought they were very courticious and prompt. I was already impressed when they sent out letter acknowledging the issue with first batch of M8. Offer of 30% disc lens really put my mind to ease becaue I felt like they really tried.

I had email communication three times for three different cases (body upgrade, filters, and lens). Everytime, they were very prompt. Gave good estimate and delivered every time on time or before their estimates. I never needed to ask same question twice.

When my CC did not go through because of poor penmanship, NJ called me to clear it out without my inquerying first. Next besinessday, lens was shipped to me.

Thank you Leica. Without the 30% discount offer, I would not have put money for second lens yet even though I wanted it.

Just sharing my thoughts.

PS: Now I understand why people were saying have to be steady when shooting at F1 with Nocti. I already experienced that with Cron.

I personally find the M8 + 28/75 an ideal combination. I find very little use for any intermediate lenses. I've just added a WATE for the wide end but ultimately you can use this classic combo, with your feet to zoom, pretty much anywhere.

The CV15 + 28/75 combination covers almost everything too.

With just short experience with 75 and kind of pictures I take, I think 28+75 is pretty good combination (for me). I can't speak for 90 since I don't have one.

It seems that 75 works very well for potrait kind of work, for example, you can make a head shot just fine. I also seem to like taking pictures with a lot of crop. So, it is ideal lens for me.

I have not tried, but 8x11 sheet of paper might be able to fill the frame on M8 and still able to focus (0.7m).

thanks.

The 30% off lens offer was given to people who purchased or paid in full for their M8s prior to January 1. It was supposed to offset the negative feedback we early customers experienced with many hardware and firmware issues. Most of these early cameras had to be sent back to Solms for upgrades.

The 30% discount lens offer was for the early purchasers of the M8. If you bought and paid for your M8 before 12/31/2006, Leica extended a 30% discount for the purchase of a lens of your choice. This was to offset some of the initial problems with the M8. It was available for everyone.
