Jamie Roberts Posted July 10, 2007 Share #4 Posted July 10, 2007 Nice work Riccis! I also love the M8 for wedding work. Tell me--do you use the M8 exclusively, or do you use something else... .like your Holga.... to shoot the wedding as well?
rob_x2004 Posted July 10, 2007 Share #5 Posted July 10, 2007 Some impressive stuff. Thanks for posting. Appreciated.
Riccis Posted July 10, 2007 Author Share #6 Posted July 10, 2007 Jacques - Thanks, man. Daniel - I'm honored to be able to contribute to your learning Jamie - I've been using the M8 exclusively for all my wedding work since April. I've been putting it through the paces since the beginning of the year as a backup to the Canon stuff (which I no longer use due to its weight)... I also bring an M7 (and shoot about a roll of 1600-3200 B&W) and supplement my coverage with Holgas and Dianas as well. BTW, you are in the DWF, right? Your name sounds familiar. Rob - Thanks for the kind words.
Jamie Roberts Posted July 10, 2007 Share #7 Posted July 10, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Riccis, Yes, I lurk a bit at DWF I thought I was the only M8 shooter there! I don't use my M8 exclusively at weddings. I still use a 5d and my DMR stuff.
keithdunlop Posted July 10, 2007 Share #8 Posted July 10, 2007 Very nice work! I'm considering adding an M8 to shoot along side my D2x and I'm wondering what your lens set is?
Riccis Posted July 10, 2007 Author Share #9 Posted July 10, 2007 Keith: My wedding kit consists of: -2 M8s -M7 -21 Elmarit ASPH -35 Summilux ASPH -50 Summilux ASPH The only lenses that I still want to get are a Noctilux and either a 75 Summilux or 90 Summicron. My style is such that I don't require anything longer than 50mm, but I need longer focal lenghts for coverage in some churches. Cheers, Riccis
sean_reid Posted July 11, 2007 Share #10 Posted July 11, 2007 My primary wedding bodies are an M8 and a 5D. Cheers, Sean

Irakly Shanidze Posted July 11, 2007 Share #16 Posted July 11, 2007 very nice indeed! i totally second your opinion on m8 usability for weddings. last month i shot a wedding with m8, and it what a delight it was! 80% of photos were taken with a pre-asph 35mm summilux and just a few with 2.8/28 biogon zm and 2.8/90 fat tele-elmarit. the whole kit was no more than four pounds including a bag for those who is not going to be bored with almost 300 images (this is an unretouched slide show for clients to pick photos for an album) http://www.shanidze.com/WebGalleries/Wedding%20Roompa-Guru/ now they have to pay me extra to shoot with canon Hello: I just want to share some of my recent work using the M8 (http://www.riccisvalladares.com/blog) Enjoy! That's what I strive for every time I present a client with my vision of their wedding day. Iraky - Thanks for your comments. I am a big fan of your work... love it! sean_reid Posted July 12, 2007 Share #19 Posted July 12, 2007 Riccis and other wedding photographers, Just wondering what ISO your're shooting for your photos and if you're using flash at all for your weddings. Thanks! Calvin ISO 160 - 1250. Sometimes flash, yes. Vivitar 285 with an off-shore cord. Cheers, Sean
Riccis Posted July 13, 2007 Author Share #20 Posted July 13, 2007 ISO 160 - 1250 as well... I'm not a big fan of flash, but when needed, my main light source is a video light or flash on a stick held by an assistant (both off camera) Regards, Riccis
