OK, the video indicates plastic is used in the aperture mechanism of a Type 4.  Does anyone know (or care) if plastic is used for the Type 5 aperture mechanism?

Would be interesting to know though, also if v4 copies made in Germany have the same plastic part as the ones made in Canada.

No, the guy in the video says at 17:22 that the German version is made not the same way. The German version uses metal instead of plastic.

I own and use both the Summicron 4 and Summicron 5. The latter one in silver. Both are made in Germany. The rendering of the images are indistinguishable. I made some photos today (tripod, same apertures 2; 2.8; and 4.0, etc) with v4 and v5. The first photo is the Summicron v4 at f2.0. Second is v5 at f2.0.

Did you try to compare flare? Just curious as my Canada-made v4 copy from the eighties flares a bit more than v5. Different coatings perhaps but i did not investigate the matter yet.

Same shutter speed and ISO? The first image looks a tad darker.

yes, exactly the same, I just changed the lens on the M10. You seem to have an eagle eye.

No, not really, sorry. In practice I don't care much about flare.

Uhm I just opened the images on my desktop. To my eye the first image looks a tad more contrasty.

Would you agree on that? Is v4 more contrasty due to different coatings?

I openend both photos on my computer and switched between the two for a minute or two (ALT+Tab), and yes you are right, it looks slightly more contrasty which suprises me😲.

Here are the two photos again at f2.8 (first one is v4, second v5). Same set.
