Deleting files doesn't actually delete the data ...

I didn't say it did.

... it just deletes the filesystem (FAT) references to the data and the file name is removed.

Exactly. Deleting invalidates hundreds or thousands of references inside the FAT. Re-formatting invalidates one—the FAT itself.

Hello

I ask for advice - I do not have much experience with the software.

Now I have installed Firmware 1.9.4.0 on my M10.

Do I have to install first penultimate Firmware 1.10.4.0 before installing a new one 2.4.5.0?

Or is not necessary and can I install the new one on the older version (firmware 2.4.5.0. on firmware 1.9.4.0.)?

Thank you.

Regards

Unlike the Q's new firmware, the M10's recent upgrade does not include a provision to allow the user's shutter release timer setting to stay fixed once the camera is turned off.  I use my M10 to do a lot of flower macro photography on a tripod, using the 2 second timer.  In a day's shooting, I may turn off the camera to preserve the battery, and that means I have to keep resetting the timer release.  Really wish Leica would add this feature to the M10 for those of us who need it.
