Tried the CL today and noticed that when manually focusing native L mount lenses, the central part of the frame will get automatically magnified to boost focus accuracy. Very nice. Can this also be done with the SL? If so, can this work with both native and non-native lenses?

I didn’t expect to like the CL when it first came out but I now think I have to have one.

On the SL, when you have an L (autofocus) lens in manual focus mode, pressing the joystick sets the focus at the cross hairs, whose location is also set with the joystick.  Magnification require some button pushes.

On the CL, there aren't enough controls available on the back, so the M-stye "magnify when you move the focus ring" approach is used.  You can also get focus magnification by pressing the up or down arrow buttons.  The amount of magnification (3x or 6x) toggles with the center button of the 4-way control.

At least since FW 3.0, pressing the joystick/back button when using native AF lenses in MF mode will zoom the display to allow you to fine-tune focus. The cross-hair remains resolutely centered, but you can use the joystick to move the zoomed area around the frame to check focus on whatever area you desire.
