Not true for normal use. I suppose you could get the sun to damage just about anything if you put your mind to it, but a sensor is far less fragile for heat damage than film and certainly even less so than a cloth shutter.

If you are going to take specific photographs of the sun, like of sunspots, then you will have to use special filters.

TAP did a You Tube video trashing the Hasselblad X1D as a POS simply because the price was lowered. I believe he had used one for about 30 minutes to make his evaluation. He also has video's where he debunks relativity and quantum mechanics but I have not watched them.
