24-90 SL Vario Elmarit -- Any problems with this lens?

My 24-90 SL vario elmarit  which I bought new about six months ago, developed an odd mechanical problem: When the lens is extended out to the 90mm focal length the front barrel moves and is quite loose. I have send the lens back to Leica USA and they reported that they send the lens back to Germany for repair (about five weeks ago.) Has anyone else noticed a similar condition or problem?

Had mine about a year and a half and not issues. My only lens issues were with my S lens that had to get the focus motor replaced. It is no longer an issue as I got out of the S system.

I checked my lens and it is about as solid at 90mm as expected for this design, very slight movement of the extended barrel when lateral pressure is placed on the hood.  Much less than many lenses from other manufacturers.    Repaired lenses from Leica has been returned in excellent condition, two S lenses are like new and returned M lenses are mechanically smooth with clean elements.  I haven't had to send any SL lenses for repair.
