jaapv Posted May 17, 2018 Share #21 Posted May 17, 2018 Advertisement (gone after registration) No, you would not see much difference in image quality. The 50 MM Summilux asph on the M10 would render a higher resolution image on the M10 than the cropped Q. The OOF rendering would be different too. Don't underestimate the difference between using a manual focusing optical viewfinder as opposed to an EVF AF camera.
Advertisement Posted May 17, 2018 Posted May 17, 2018 Hi jaapv, Take a look here Farewell Q. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
tgdinamo Posted May 17, 2018 Share #22 Posted May 17, 2018 I’ve spent about 40 hours researching/ogling over the M10. I am a B to B+ level photographer with a Q who is itching for the challenge of a rangefinder, but. . . . (1) Assume a 28 mm lens on the M10, would I see a material difference in image quality? (2) Assume a 50 mm Lux ASPH on the M10, would the only material difference be the focal length? As you can sense, I don’t want to spend $10,000 for just a different “experience.” Thanks! Guy Check out this very informative article which includes discussion of summilux-Q vs summilux-M. http://www.overgaard.dk/Leica-28mm-Summilux-M-ASPH-f-1-4.html
antigallican Posted May 17, 2018 Share #23 Posted May 17, 2018 Loved the camera — too much! A big bite from the Leica Bug and I will be replacing my Q with an M10 tomorrow. Going to have the 35 and 50 Summicrons to play with. Big time sale of Nikon equipment, but I knew it was coming. I was not here long but I enjoyed the company! Thanks!!! Does the M10 have an adjustable eyepiece? At 65 I find the bright adjustable 'finder' on the Q counts for a lot. (But I still have an M9!)
Mr.Q Posted May 18, 2018 Share #24 Posted May 18, 2018 Should have kept the Q, it's the perfect compliment to the M10 + 50/0.95 Noctilux
robgo2 Posted June 5, 2018 Share #25 Posted June 5, 2018 The Q was my gateway into Leica world. Once inside, I was drawn to the SL, which is now the camera that I use most. But I have held onto my Q, because it is so light and fast and easy and beautiful, and the images it produces just fly off the screen or print. There are times when light, fast, easy and beautiful are what I want, and I'm glad to have the Q to satisfy that desire.
SonomaBear Posted June 6, 2018 Share #26 Posted June 6, 2018 I am planning (soon) to buy a M240 and a 50mm. But keep the Q. Shooting the Q this afternoon I felt that the 240/50 would feel very similar to the way I shoot (manual focus, we’d open aperture, a touch of exposure Comp, ISO low). Then my collecting M glass begins! Everything except 28mm which the Q may be the world’s leader. After 50, probably a 75, then a 21. Bring on the M with EVF or Q with M mount!

low325 Posted June 7, 2018 Share #28 Posted June 7, 2018 (edited) I love my Q still! Echoing what is already said...light, fast, Uber convenient is the name of the game. I added an M9/50APO to the mix to satisfy the true RF experience. When I know it’s just going to me behind that camera for day the M9 is it. Quick convenient and versatile outing, M with a 28 lux Is just too much to fiddle with imo. But enjoy your next endeavor...M10 is a heck of a camera. prk60091 Posted June 13, 2018 Share #29 Posted June 13, 2018 i was tempted to sell the Q for a bit and go to an M then i kept on coming back to the IQ and my declining old man eyes then the CL came and I briefly flirted with the idea of the CL it was mostly " GAS "then i shook off that insanity and now except for a few "GAS" cravings (which by the way is the biggest failing of the Q-- there is truly very little that i need to acquire-- i have my filters- thumbsup- straps bags -etc-- what else can i buy???) am fully in love w/ the Q.
