I've had a M 262 with LCD monitor for about 6 months and it has worked wonderfully up till now.  While shooting the other day:

a) after shutter half-way depression red light DID NOT flash

B) I have no monitor either

c) The viewfinder flashes "Sd" although I have a formatted card in there that has worked since first of the year

d) checked by throwing in a few other cards, but same symptoms a-c.

e) checked the batteries and fully charged, same symptoms

Anybody out there have any ideas as to what is going on?  I'm guessing software since if the monitor just went out, the "Sd" wouldn't be there and the red prompt light would still flash.

Thanks

Dan

Welcome Dan,

If the LCD is operating, I would try "Factory Reset".

Maybe some dirt on SD contact in the M body.

Try this after "reset", put in the SD card many times which you can "rub contact" with rubber or anything else each time SD out.

I agree with a.noctilux but also try a rocket blower in the card slot and try a reset between trying different cards. Check the cards on a computer too. I’m slowly learning the huge variety and bizarre ways SD cards can fail.

Worst case scenario - a problem with the SD slot. Before you send the camera in look inside the card slot, if one of the connectors is bent out of true, you might try and bend it back with something like a toothpick.

Hi,Dan.

Unfortunately, you have nothing to do with this issue.

Your camera seems to have problems with main circuit boad(it contain SD card slot also).

Go leica store near your house and you can repair your camera free of charge.
