Jdphoto Posted May 2, 2018 Share #1 Posted May 2, 2018 Advertisement (gone after registration) I'm going to be shooting with a M9M (ccd) and 28mm Elmarit and 50mm Lux (pre). I understand that the metering is center weighted and plan on using the center weight as a big spot meter and applying the zone system. Can other Monochrom users share their techniques? I've also read to shoot the Monochrom like slide film so as to not blow the highlights. Underexposing seems a good idea. Thanks.

a.noctilux Posted May 2, 2018 Share #2 Posted May 2, 2018 Yes you are right, expose like slide film. Not to be surprise, I use mainly in manual. Then histogrammes would help if tricky lighting, or bracketting (in this case, MM takes time to write on SD card = old technologie seen here). After a while of using it, histogrammes become unnecessary. If in doubt, underexpose that's my Monochrom use. Recovery of "shadow" is fine in most cases.
Luke_Miller Posted May 3, 2018 Share #3 Posted May 3, 2018 If outdoors in full sun I must dial in -.7 EV exposure compensation to avoid blowing out while/bright objects.
