I took a trip recently to the Dozier School for Boys and Boot Hill Cemetery, a place filled with some pretty terrible history. It’s worth reading the story about the things the kids who attended this school went through, sometimes ultimately leading to their death. I’ve driven past this location a few times not knowing the history of it but always feeling drawn to learn more and after looking it up was shocked and filled with both reverence and pity for what those children went through. I’m no photojournalist but here are a few of the photos I took at the location.

All with my MP, 50mm Summilux ASPH and Portra 400.

If you’re near the panhandle of Florida it’s located in Marianna and worth a visit. Sometimes you don’t have to go far to find real history.

One more from Dozier School for Boys. A bit haunting considering the context.
