A few architectural studies from downtown Dallas, with the M6, various lenses and T-Max 100.

The Cambria, a survivor of the Art Deco building period downtown. Now a high-rise residence, back in the late 1980's for about 4 years I worked on the 21st floor in the Trust Department Operations group with Mercantile Bank of Dallas. Captured with the 21mm f3.4 Super Elmar.

Front facade of the old police headquarters, where Lee Harvey Oswald was murdered by Jack Ruby back in November, 1963. Captured with the 135mm f3.4 APO Telyt-M.

The Majestic Theater, with the 75mm f2.4 Summarit.

Museum Tower, with the 21mm f3.4 Super Elmar. I didn't ponder over this composition very long for fear of the sun burning a hole in the shutter.

Trolley on McKinney Avenue, with the 75mm f2.4 Summarit.

Tucked in between all the high rises, the bell tower of the First United Methodist Church on Ross Avenue, with the 135mm f3.4 APO Telyt.

These next two images I was testing the possible dynamic range with the 21mm f3.4 Super Elmar, exposing fully for the shadows only. The scans were in dng format, allowing me to maximize the minimums and maximums about as much as possible.

@mikeamosau That colour is GORGEOUS. What was your dev/scan process? Is that taken with the second-last Summilux?

Thanks so much!

It's shot with the current FLE Summilux.

As for developing and scanning, I develop with the Cinestill C41 Dev Kit which is nice and simple 2 parts. I use a machine to keep it at 102 degrees F, and then scan using an Epson V850 pro using the Scanfast studio 8 AI software.

There is no negafix preset for Cinestill 50D in Scanfast, so I created my own custom one which I have set to match a lot of images I have seen online from this film. I love the colors it produces and want to make sure if I am shooting film, I am preserving the look of the film with minimal digital changes and manipulation. I figure if I am going to bother to shoot film, I want the photos to look like it!

Thanks again so much!

Mike

Thought it would be interesting to post a progression of films I shot lately. M7 aperture priority. 1st is tmax100, elamarit-m50, 2nd is trix-400 push to 1600 75/2.5 wide open, 3rd is tmax 3200 75/2.5 wide open “box speed”.  Lightroom with maybe 1/4 stop exposure either way and a tad of the dehaze slider. First pick outside good lighting, last two are inside a convention center with poor lighting. This is just for fun😀, and I know they are small low resolution, but I think you can still tell tonality and grain differences.
