thighslapper Posted May 10, 2018 Share #41  Posted May 10, 2018 Advertisement (gone after registration) Contacted my usual dealer yesterday and it appears the distribution of lenses is following a now familiar pattern.  He has yet to have any, despite having longstanding close contacts with Leica and orders in for the lens. In the past he always had at least one of any new product on or around the release date.  Leica main dealers appear to be given all the initial available stock and even Leica Boutiques have seen nothing, let alone the other Leica Stockists.  Apart from the initial batch which has been spread very preferentially none have appeared since the initial delivery, so on past form it will be several more weeks before any more surface.  For once. I'm in no particular hurry, but Leica's totally opaque attitude to advising on stock availability and expected delivery times is a real pain....... This is the past production/delivery pattern of Leica. That was also why I bothered to preorder mine the moment Leica released the prices of the lens on 9th April, such that I did not have to wait that long. Chuck Albertson Posted May 10, 2018 Share #43  Posted May 10, 2018 I ordered a 90SL from my Leica dealer (they have a Leica Botique in the store) a few weeks ago, but no one could tell me when it would arrive, even the regional rep when he was visiting the store last weekend. I heard the local Leica store received a few in the last week or two, and they quickly went to those who had orders in. Then my dealer phoned me on Monday to tell me the lens had arrived, and it was worth the wait. The store said it was the first they had received after filling pre-orders. It arrived that day and I ordered it. As stated in a previous post I bought my zoom on-line from Leica Store Manchester (which is independent of Leica I believe) no queue, it was just there. I also bought the 75 from them two days later. There is a 90 in stock at that same store that you can buy on-line right now... don’t know why they have stock to spare in this way and other get slim pickings. thighslapper Posted May 10, 2018 Share #46  Posted May 10, 2018 Manchester were surprised to get 3 and only had two pre-orders, which is why yours was going spare ......  If you are prepared to phone around and trawl the net you will get what you want quickly, despite Leica's meanness with stock and impenetrable distribution plans....  I got My TL2 from Nuremberg online when everywhere else had yet to receive stock......  I have an iron in a number of fires so something will turn up sooner or later ....
