And it uses Sony batteries?

I doubt that Sony, in its plains to become the leading camera maker within 2021, plans to conquer the digital rangefinder market.

 

In any case I don't understand why Voigtlander and Contax have never tried to produce a digital version of their analogue rangefinders. They both produce rangfinder lenses, an entry level digital rangefinder would help very much in selling more lenses.

Voigtlander/Cosina sort of did make a digital rangefinder, though it was Epson branded. I've read elsewhere that Cosina President (and Voigtlander mastermind) Hirofumi Kobayashi wasn't interested in making Voigtlander-branded digitals.

 

I suppose the Contax brand has reverted to Zeiss, though they used the Ikon brand for their last RF, also made by Cosina. There were rumours at the time that there might be a digital version, but of course they came to nothing.
