I would start by finding the go to lens and go from there. I came from Fuji and a 28 eqvivalent was my main lens there. As my first Leica was a M2 a 35 lens was more suitable and that was my choice. Now 35 mm is the lens mostly on the camera when I'm going out. Would like to have a 28 too but it is too close to 35 to justify it for now.

Overall I think it is good to try to find a good starting point and work from there. The go to lens might change over time. If I had to decide between 28 and 50 now it would probably decide on 50 whereas 28 would have been the lens with no hesitation 2 years ago.

Anyway, my three travel lenses now would be: 21-35-75.

21 is a bit difficult for me yet but in locations where there are lots of people it is lovely.

Thank you all !

I think I will start with a 28 and a 35 (used). Shoot a lot with those and build my kit around the prefered.

Hi Lame

Its is great that you come nearer your decision.I believe that the 28 is a wonderful lens. Get it. You get the in different speeds. I own the 2.0 and it is marvelous and light. As a companion I would not support a 35mm. Yes I have the Summilux but not as the second lens. From the focal length they are too near. Check it with your frames lines in the viewfinder of your camera. Of course the 35 is the most common lens but not when you have a 28mm already and only if you have several lenses. Think of the 50mm or maybe the 75mm as your second lens.

28 + 35 ...

Alex U,

May I differ from you ...

When I use MATE, I'm happy to be able to choose from 28/50/35mm and in real life use, images from 28mm IS not the same as from 35mm of the same lens.

And later on I choose prime 35mm or 28mm depend on what type of images I plan to take if I want only one prime lens.

Great, you are certainly right. I own 35 and 28mm as well and would not like to be without the 2. But if you have to choose the one or the other then you might think differently. This is valid for me anyway
