I don’t think it would be wise to dive under €1150. A second hand Leica analogue M is always the cheapest option, IF you’ve got the money. Because it seldom looses value and sometimes value goes up. Leica bei Meister in Hamburg is trustworthy and has one. If you can’t pay such a price it’s better to go for an M4 for 600€, indestructable.

You're absolutely right, thank you for giving me that ballpark

I probably haven't read the thread very carefully but do I gather that you are in France and trying to buy from a French dealer but are having problems with the language?

Understandable, even French people often don't understand their own language. When I talk in French they usually just look blankly at me and shake their heads, even when I put on my most Frenchest of French accents to help them more.

Shouldn't be a problem to gather the info for well known Leica dealers in Germany, make phone call and get it shipped.

Last time I checked some of them were not overpricing.

Expensive shipping?

Just get where over weekend. Worth of the trip. I know guys who did it even from Moscow.

Another way is to spend sometime on LUF and RFF and wait, buy from known forum member.

Yes I’m from Poland :) looking for a trusted source to buy an M6 in a fair or better-than-fair price ;) btw, M6 and Summicron 35 possibly

Okay. I understand. I had thought that if you are trying to buy from someone in France then I could offer some help because I'm based in Paris (unfortunately).

If you wanted a hand to buy one of the M6 cameras from Aperture then I'd be pleased to help – but I wouldn't want to take any responsibility for checking over the camera or giving any assurances as to its condition.

Frankly I would trust Aperture and I'm sure that they could do a mail-order arrangement for you.

Do you mean you put on a French accent when you speak French? Or that you put on a French accent when you speak English to them – Allo Allo?

I can only wholeheartedly recommend Meister Camera in Hamburg. I have bought numerous items from them and if something wrong they always did everything they could to make it right. Others might be cheaper sometimes but Meisters service is second to none. give them a call and tell them what you are looking for and the will find it for you.

I got a NOS (New old stock) in its box with strap, papers, etc. from a reputable seller on eBay in Hong Kong. The camera is really new indeed. Returns accepted for 14 days after delivery and warranty I have to check, I think it's 6mo.

Happy hunting!

Both of course. It's also essential to speak very loudly and slowly whenever trying to communicate in foreign.

When writing in foreign, remember to write very large and slowly - especially when placing an order through the interwebs.

I’ve been looking at prices and they are increasing so be quick. I’ve had plenty of luck on eBay personally. Just set a budget and got for it. They are so well made that even a rough one will work fine. You can always have it serviced at a later stage.

I also "rolled the dice" and bought one off ebay.  It was from a camera store selilng via ebay and they had a ton of pictures of the camera and offered a 30 day return so I felt pretty confident.  I was able to get a good deal and the camera has been great.  I'd just say wherever you buy from, run a roll of film through it as soon as you can so if there are any problems they can be identified quickly.

Seen the same thing with M6 prices - I bought in 2016 my M6 (non TTL) for $1000 from a reputable dealer in the US. Now it's hard to find them in the same condition for less than $1600.
