There were a few pillars and sides of buildings I was able hide behind that blocked most of the wind and snow, along with shielding the camera with my back to the wind. I was able to duck under an overhang from time to time, to take shelter when needed....mainly for my hands....no gloves great shots ! , I have taken pics in the rain but alway nervous since the lenses are waterproof - are you positioned under a canopy like I do ?
