Jdphoto Posted February 20, 2018 Share #1 Â Posted February 20, 2018 Advertisement (gone after registration) I mounted a native 23mm f2 prime on a CL and when I turned the camera on got an OOF image with an odd test pattern and no AF. I turned it off/on again and the lens was doing a firmware type upgrade and everything worked nicely. Will every native lens mounted have to have this firmware? Advertisement Posted February 20, 2018 Posted February 20, 2018 Hi Jdphoto, Take a look here Upgrading lens to CL. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
jaapv Posted February 20, 2018 Share #2 Â Posted February 20, 2018 It will always update the lens firmware when a new lens is mounted.
scott kirkpatrick Posted February 20, 2018 Share #3  Posted February 20, 2018 Some of the TL lenses now being sold for use on the CL were manufactured during the TL's run, and before the CL began to ship. So their firmware is updated by the CL camera firmware when the lens is first installed on a CL. Be patient. The earlier models can take several minutes for the upgrade to complete. It's all explained (well, sort of) on the LCD so you have to watch there. And you are now over that hurdle. grahamhoey Posted February 20, 2018 Share #4 Â Posted February 20, 2018 If you are using any of the SL lenses on the CL it seems the firmware for those to use them on the CL can only be updated with the SL body. Hopefully something Leica will fix with firmware updates for the CL.
scott kirkpatrick Posted February 21, 2018 Share #5  Posted February 21, 2018 This is a long-standing complaint. If you want to use an S lens on an SL, and it is old, you have to find an S to update it to current firmware. You can't update a T lens on an SL, only on a T. So it is consistent that an SL lens can only be updated on an SL, but can also be used on a T. It is not consistent, however, with the claim that each camera can use all these existing lenses.
helged Posted February 21, 2018 Share #6 Â Posted February 21, 2018 ...and, for the sake of completeness, S-lenses do NOT work on CL or T.
