robsonj Posted February 21, 2018 Share #21 Â Posted February 21, 2018 Advertisement (gone after registration) Paint looks a bit shiny. Try rubbing over it with ScotchBrite. Would matte paint be a better option?

rramesh Posted February 21, 2018 Share #22  Posted February 21, 2018 First, suggest a paper template to check whether dimples are indeed in the right place. Available online. See here https://lavidaleica.com/assets/articles/M9_Lens_Coder_V3.jpg  Second, use matt black paint to fill in the black pits. White is not necessary. bocaburger Posted February 22, 2018 Share #26  Posted February 22, 2018 Would matte paint be a better option? I used Testors model car/airplane flat black enamel. A tiny little bottle from the hobby shop is enough to do a slew of lenses.
robsonj Posted February 23, 2018 Share #27  Posted February 23, 2018 Advertisement (gone after registration) Must be my paint (flat black rustolium), that or the direction of the wind, relative humidity or sun flares . I downloaded the template, cut it out, checked that my mounts had the markings in the correct place - they're bang on. I mounted my newly acquired 6bit coded Elmarit-M 90mm to the 240, bang, recognizes the lens straight away, my attempts, not so much :-(.

To make flat paint a flattening paste is used and it sinks to the bottom of the can.
robsonj Posted February 23, 2018 Share #29 Â Posted February 23, 2018 I shook it very well. I'm gonna add more coats to ensure the coding pits are filled up with paint as I noticed the coding on the Elmarit-M are quite flat. I also tried using the template and a sharpie on the lens mount, also no dice.

Stonewall Brigade Posted February 23, 2018 Share #31 Â Posted February 23, 2018 You'd think by now, a company would have come out with a decal adhesive set for all Leica lenses, and anyone could just easy purchase and apply the correct decal with coding relevant to the lens
robsonj Posted February 23, 2018 Share #32 Â Posted February 23, 2018 Yep, I had the same thought, or pre coded flanges
Exodies Posted February 23, 2018 Share #33 Â Posted February 23, 2018 I hope the flanges fit tighter than would allow a sticker between
robsonj Posted February 23, 2018 Share #34 Â Posted February 23, 2018 (edited) A flange with a recess for a sticker is what I was thinking Edited February 23, 2018 by robsonj
