Le Chef Posted January 18, 2018 Share #1 Posted January 18, 2018 Advertisement (gone after registration) It’s 4 years since the DL 109 launched, and a lot has happened in photography since then. This autumn we have Photokina. Will there be a new DL? What might it be like? What attributes would you want to keep from the current model? What features would you like to see? And what would you like Leica/Panasonic to replace? Start...now!
Advertisement Posted January 18, 2018 Posted January 18, 2018 Hi Le Chef, Take a look here The next DL?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
lct Posted January 18, 2018 Share #2 Posted January 18, 2018 Seems like Panasonic is alone in the know. https://www.dailycameranews.com/2017/05/panasonic-lx200-camera-works/
Le Chef Posted January 18, 2018 Author Share #3 Posted January 18, 2018 Apparently the LX200 is now a back burner project behind the G9.
willeica Posted January 19, 2018 Share #4 Posted January 19, 2018 The DL 109 is basically a copy of a Lumix camera. Leica will not have that big an input into any new design that may emerge, apart perhaps from any lens design that may carry the Leica name. No Lumix copies have been introduced by Leica for some years now. The market for cameras is evolving, with practically all of the lower end stuff disappearing. The first move here will be up to Panasonic who will have to judge whether there is sufficient 'market space' to consider introducing an updated version of the LX 100. If a new model emerges, it will be matter for the two companies to decide on the licensing terms for any Leica copy. William

stuny Posted February 28, 2018 Share #6 Posted February 28, 2018 Tristan - Based on all that's written above your post (please read them), there seems little chance a new model will appear anytime soon.

Le Chef Posted March 1, 2018 Author Share #8 Posted March 1, 2018 (edited) Soft images at the edges wide open, grainy at higher ISO, ISO range limited. There is an obvious gap in Leica’s range where an up-to-date M43 sensor camera with a fixed lens zoom and built in EVF would fit in very neatly to replace the 109 and the 107. Call it a “junior” CL/Q Edited March 1, 2018 by Le Chef
Tristan Reunion Posted March 1, 2018 Share #9 Posted March 1, 2018 Hi Stuny, thank you for your answer. I read the messages above my post but my english is not very good and I don't understand all. willeica Posted March 1, 2018 Share #11 Posted March 1, 2018 Hi Stuny, thank you for your answer. I read the messages above my post but my english is not very good and I don't understand all. Maybe someone has an idea of a date for the new dl ? The D-Lux is just a copy of the Panasonic Lumix LX 100. There is no sign at this stage that Panasonic intends to release a replacement for the LX 100. Neither is there any sign that Leica intends to continue releasing copies of Panasonic cameras. It is some years since the last one appeared. The main relationship now is that Leica continues to allow Panasonic to use the name Leica on certain Lumix lenses. lct Posted April 7, 2018 Share #12 Posted April 7, 2018 Panasonic interview Mar 31, 2018 https://www.dpreview.com/interviews/7479700625/cp-panasonic-interview Q: Do you think there’s an opportunity for Panasonic to develop more fixed-lens large-sensor compacts? A: "Yes, we have lots of requests from editors and users waiting for the next LX100, so we are studying that. At this point, we can’t say when, but it is something that people are expecting."
