To my eyes (ie, subjective indeed), the GF system creates a very sharp look in terms of high acutance, but I often prefer the “textures” in my images from the Leica. The latter often looks more real and alive to me. In comparison, the GF can look a bit, well, “flat”, despite being very sharp from the high acutance. Again, maybe the GF lenses are recording textures (which give the shape to a subject?) in a different way that might explain this?? …..if so, beyond my ability to describe why / how. The nice thing about the M system (or SL), and potentially the S4 if it’s produced, is the option to create many different renderings with the same body by picking and choosing different lenses. On my M11, I much prefer the Summicron v5 for close-up portraits, but then I also use a super sharp APO lens with little field curvature for landscapes. With Leica, I have flexibility in creating the rendering that I’m after for different subjects. In comparison, the GFX is more a “one look wonder” because the ability to mix and match various lenses is more limited, in my humble opinion. Separately - fwiw - my tests concluded to my eyes that, out of all of these systems (M11, M11M, SL3, GFX100), the M11M records the most detail and in the purest way, helped by no aliasing in any of the finest of details due to lack of color filter array messing things up. Just an irrelevant memory. Many years ago, my office had a young man who loved Porsche so much but could not afford. He put Porsche tires on his Accord. He even replace the car logo with Porsche logo he found in the swap meet. His key chain was also with Porsche tag. His license plate says” my next car will be a Porsche”. The Kipon adapter is a match made in heaven. I'll post some close-up examples when I have time. Leica S 30-90mm on GFX100S. Full image plus 100% (I think?!) close-up. N.B. Tirpitz666 Posted December 21, 2024 Share #83 Posted December 21, 2024 Looks pretty good to me! The 30-90 is indeed a very capable lens.

I forgot to mention that this is at 90mm - handheld. Some say the lens isn't at its strongest beyond 70mm. I disagree and have no hesitation about using it on my GFX100S. tom0511 Posted December 24, 2024 Share #90 Posted December 24, 2024 I am quite interested in the adapter, since I own nearly all S lenses. S body is great in good light, but since I shoot handheld ibis would be a great thing to have ibis for certain situations.

BernardC Posted February 11 Share #95 Posted February 11 It will be interesting to see how it performs in the corners. There's a long thread on GetDPI about re-calibrating certain lenses for the GFX, presumably because of its unusual cover glass (it's several mm away from the sensor). This involves shimming the elements to change the spacing of front and rear groups, which isn't something that can easily be done on S lenses. Do you still have an S? Can you post comparison shots of the same scene done with each camera?
Tirpitz666 Posted February 11 Share #96 Posted February 11 I can confirm that my Sigma 14-24 F2.8 Art is pretty horrible in the corners on the GFX, but that's a FF lens so not too much surprise there. The Hassy HC 35 F3.5 (a bit stopped down) instead fares much better.
Jon Warwick Posted February 11 Share #97 Posted February 11 2 hours ago, BernardC said: presumably because of its unusual cover glass (it's several mm away from the sensor). i wonder how or if that changes the rendering of the images, even when using GF glass? To my eyes, my GFX100 seems to record the subject with less "bite", and with not that much more fine detail compared to what i get off my M11 or SL3. Put it this way, for my eyes, at least - I have to enlarge to c 55" wide and zoom in to 200% on screen to see the difference between the 100mp and 60mp cameras. As an aside, IMHO, the M11 Monochrom records fine detail in a more precise way than all of those color filter cameras that I mention when i do the same pixel peeping, helped by no aliasing due to lack of color filter array
BernardC Posted February 11 Share #98 Posted February 11 38 minutes ago, Jon Warwick said: i wonder how or if that changes the rendering of the images, even when using GF glass? Fuji's own lenses will take the sensor cover glass into account. It's conceptually the same as super-telephotos that have a filter slot at the rear. You need to keep a clear filter in that slot when you aren't using an effect filter.

Yes, I have an S2-P; I'll certainly post some comparison shots. I also have the 70mm CS (although the Central Shutter won't work on the GFX).
