And it is totally weird that you cannot. The camera sets up a network with my high Sierra Mac Pro without any problem. The only thing failing is a simple app, I asked Leica, but only a sorry-no answer.  Hey! Leica, this is 2018, not 1998!

Thanks all. I am using the IOS app for iPhone/iPad. Worked for the iPad. Just having a bit of trouble bringing up the QR code to capture on the iPhone. No problem on the iPad. Could be a wireless connection issue, temporary I hope.

Yes, but the problem is that the iPad nor the iPhone provide enough storage space to use as a backup. I would like to use a Macbook Air 11" or Macbook Pro 12"  with external storage

I changed the password to a simpler 8-digit one and I just typed that in, ignoring the QR code. Only needed it the first time.

The wifi works well to my Mac, but not using the camera's own wifi but connecting the camera to a network and being given an IP address. The DHCP system on your router should automatically assign an IP address from its range of spare ones, something like 192.168.1.25 . You enter that IP address into the browser and it will connect to the camera's SD card. You can only download JPEG images using this system. You should also be able to use the Image Shuttle App but you may have to connect using the camera as an access point for this. I have not tried or needed this as yet.

Using the iOS app seems a bit more hit and miss, where you are using the camera and QR code to set up the camera as a wifi access point. My iPad connects to the Leica network and I can use the app to take photos. However using the app to download pre-existing photos from the card sometimes works and sometimes doesn't. When it works, it will offer both JPEG and DNG image. I found exactly the same issue with the SL app. I am using a 12.9" iPad Pro running the latest iOS 11.2.1. It is quite slow for a lot of DNG images and you are probably better removing the card and connecting direct to an iPad or Mac to download a lot of images.
