I guess this goes here.  I wondered if it could also go in Architecture.  This is a forest of solar panels covering one of the open air parking lots on the campus of Michigan State University.  I believe what they have done is very clever...they have utilized what otherwise would be "wasted space" over this lot to create energy, and at the same time, provided cover for the cars that still use the parking lot.  They appear to be doing the same thing with all of the open air lots on the campus.  I saw this one just as the sun was setting and the light was striking the struts that hold up the panels and I thought it was very pretty.

Thanks for looking,

Well, that makes sense, to use the semi-urban space readily available, rather than filling the countryside with the things. :)

The last few years I worked was a lot of solar for the US NAVY. We covered parking lot canopies, buildings and some free standing in 8 states. A few of the rooftops had as many as 5,000 panels on them.

It’s a great idea.

A lovely shot (time of day light enhances it), and as you point out, a good use of space.  At one of our branches (Florham Park, NJ) the parking lots around the buildings are all configured this way.
