Pyrogallol Posted September 23, 2021 Share #41  Posted September 23, 2021 (edited) Advertisement (gone after registration) Back to this topic again as I have just bought another un-numbered no-infinity catch Elmar. This time it appears to be coupled as the rangefinder registers the correct distance though the back of the lens looks the same as the previous one. Both have a  “4 “on the back of the focussing arm. One is scaled in metres, the other in feet. Both standardised and 11 o’clock. The interesting difference to me is that this one has the little notches in the front glass retaining ring to unscrew it whereas the first one does not. Does that make it earlier or later or just another variation? Welcome, dear visitor! jerzy Posted September 24, 2021 Share #43  Posted September 24, 2021 Am 23.9.2021 um 17:14 schrieb Pyrogallol: Does that make it earlier or later or just another variation? from my observations early Elmars do not have these slots. But there were so many variations.... and to be honest, somehow I have impression that here they have been done in a later time. Today I opened early, unnumbered Elmar (11 oclock, with infinity lock) belonging to a friend. And again surprise - on the barell inside the is  serial number stamped, 88xxx range. If you ever let your lens opene, pls check if they have numbers inside Btw. 4 means focal length of 50,7mm

willeica Posted October 23, 2022 Share #46  Posted October 23, 2022 Item with a slot on the left. Discussed with Lager and Jerzy and concluded that it is genuine. These slots sometimes appear on FSU lenses. William  Welcome, dear visitor!
