I thought DNG Cleaner was for cleaning up RAW video files of the coloured dot artefacts you can get with drones and GoPro cameras. Why would you use it for still images from Leica cameras?

There is the DJI DNG Cleaner and there is the DNG Cleaner (https://sites.google.com/site/dngcleaner/). Sean uses the later to remove opcodes that force SDC (software distortion correction). There are lenses that need SDC, while others do not really need it. More details to be found on his site.
