Adrian Lord Posted December 11, 2017 Share #141 Posted December 11, 2017 Advertisement (gone after registration) Wow, this lens is interesting, thanks for the pictures @lik and @Wonzo. As a devotee of the F1 nocti I am pleased that there is at last another lens diverting the glib, naysayer posters' attention...

SilentShutter Posted December 11, 2017 Share #144 Posted December 11, 2017 Yes. I still have two. They are not as whackey as the Thambar. Think it was a "phase" and you don´t use them any more right ?
pico Posted December 11, 2017 Share #145 Posted December 11, 2017 (edited) I probably will use one again after I do more with the three cameras I built or modified this year. Edited December 11, 2017 by pico
lik Posted December 11, 2017 Author Share #146 Posted December 11, 2017 Hello again, finally I managed to take at least a few portraits. The following is wide open without CSF, ISO 320. The backlights are Christmas-LED about 4-5 meters behind. Apart from a little bit brightness (0,7) no development. One experience is: Focussing is not easy. Majority of the pics the eyes were not exact in focus. I always change between LV / EVF and RF. I haven't found my way yet. What a diva! I mean the lens... Welcome, dear visitor! lik Posted December 11, 2017 Author Share #148 Posted December 11, 2017 Now urban world again - easiest way for me to try it out at the moment. Bit more saturation and contrast. ISO 200. I think it's a lens to leave the skylight just as bright white as it comes... A lens for dominating white - and glow of course... Welcome, dear visitor! Wonzo Posted December 11, 2017 Share #149 Posted December 11, 2017 The blurry background lights add a really special expression to the pictures ! I wished, I still had the lens for more practicing !

lik Posted December 11, 2017 Author Share #152 Posted December 11, 2017 The following boring pics are only meant to show how unpredictable the blur of the lights is if you only use RF. The lights in foreground are about 15m far, those in the background more than 100, probably 500m. Note the differences: For my part I could distinguish three types of blurry light: large donut rings, small rings, bubbles. First is with, next two are without CSF. Welcome, dear visitor! lik Posted December 11, 2017 Author Share #154 Posted December 11, 2017 City lights again. Without CSF. One wide open at ISO 6.400, one about 6.3ish at 20.000 I'm still uncertain about the potential in subjects beyond portrait but I know I will try more... Welcome, dear visitor! LocalHero1953 Posted December 12, 2017 Share #159 Posted December 12, 2017 (edited) An OK review but an amazing portrait https://eoloperfido.com/blog/leica-thambar This is not a lens that benefits from a pixel peeking review! I like the way he has just responded to the lens rather than just tried to analyse it. I've never read Sean Reid, but I suspect he would have a problem reviewing this lens.
