reddot925 Posted December 3, 2017 Share #1 Posted December 3, 2017 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hello, I normally shoot the M10 with DNG only, but the CL I plan to use with family so I guess DNG with JPG will probably be easier. After a couple of days of using it, I find the default images are bland or pale for the lack of better words. Don't get me wrong the image quality is good, the sharpness from the 23mm is also very good. But the default color just seems lacking. I tried Vivid which just throws off the skin tone. Any suggestion please. Thank you.
Advertisement Posted December 3, 2017 Posted December 3, 2017 Hi reddot925, Take a look here CL - better 'film style' settings?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Ingo Posted December 3, 2017 Share #2 Posted December 3, 2017 Of course it's a matter of taste. You can customize the film looks (contrast, sharpness, saturation). Have you tried this?
JPP1 Posted December 3, 2017 Share #3 Posted December 3, 2017 (edited) Go to "Film Style" -> "Film Style Settings" and try the following for "Standard" - Saturation : Medium high - Sharpness : Medium high "Vivid" can be useful for cloudy weather with saturation set to Medium low. Of course, these are all personal preferences; YMMV. Edited December 3, 2017 by JPP1
reddot925 Posted December 4, 2017 Author Share #4 Posted December 4, 2017 I tried Vivid as your suggestion with medium low saturation and made contrast also to medium low and it’s looking good, thank you. elopezso Posted December 11, 2017 Share #5 Posted December 11, 2017 I am finding that the embedded profile for raw files is too 'hot'. Thus, I am using jpegs mostly and the DNGs only when I can't get what I want white balance-wise in a jpeg. I think the OOC jpegs, when exposure and white balance are set correctly, are hard to beat. When using the jpeg standard film style, I prefer Saturation at standard/regular Sharpness at medium high Contrast at low Ideas welcome Ed Go to "Film Style" -> "Film Style Settings" and try the following for "Standard" - Saturation : Medium high - Sharpness : Medium high "Vivid" can be useful for cloudy weather with saturation set to Medium low. AndreasB Posted December 11, 2017 Share #6 Posted December 11, 2017 standard saturation: medium high sharpness: medium high contrast: medium lens 18/2.8 looks naturally for cloudy dark and dusty weather. Not yet tested in sunlight because of the lack of sun the last 2 weeks...

Nobody is forcing you to use the embedded one.
elopezso Posted December 11, 2017 Share #8 Posted December 11, 2017 Thank you Andreas and Jaap for your replies. First,’Andreas, I have found that in cloudy weather my film style settings plus adding 17 and 10 to clarity and vibrance respectively keeps the colors a tad more natural. Second Andreas, having now played a bit more with the camera, I think setting the contrast to low allows us to get the full benefit of the Leica CL’s excellent dynamic range, Third Jaap, I don’t feel like I have enough expertise to create my own starting profile for the camera. I have tried to no avail. Let’s have others chime in some more. Best, Ed
elopezso Posted December 12, 2017 Share #9 Posted December 12, 2017 Adobe has just today released its Leica CL profile and it is excellent. It is accurate color-wise and eliminates the 'too hot' look with the embedded profile. I can now stop shooting with the JPEG film styles. Happy photographing and processing to all, Ed
