samirhifri Posted November 23, 2017 Share #1 Posted November 23, 2017 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hello. When I delete an image on my M10, the screen goes black and I get the message “Attention No media file to display”even though there are still photos on the disk. After I switch the camera OFF and then ON again, the photos are back and I am able to scroll through them again. However, as soon as I delete another one, the same issue happens again ... Anyone else experience something similar? Any recommendation? Thanks. Welcome, dear visitor! pedaes Posted November 23, 2017 Share #2 Posted November 23, 2017 Welcome to the Forum. Simple answer - no. That message usually appears if the SD card is 'empty'. Suggest you try another SD card (Format it), and if still happens e-mail Customer Care.

Eric1 Posted November 23, 2017 Share #4 Posted November 23, 2017 I read somewhere about not deleting photos in camera but waiting til you offload the files onto your computer. Ive never had a problem with my memory cards since doing this. I just go through the images later on my iMac and delete the ones i dont want then reformat the sd card in camera after. Hope that helps.
mdemeyer Posted November 23, 2017 Share #5 Posted November 23, 2017 I routinely delete in-camera and have never had any issues.
rafael_macia Posted November 24, 2017 Share #6 Posted November 24, 2017 Don't delete in camera. SD cards have lots of room. Format = delete. I had nothing but problems deleting in camera. My experience, and advice. Others (I am sure) will think otherwise.
elmars Posted November 24, 2017 Share #7 Posted November 24, 2017 Advertisement (gone after registration) Try to push any button, when the message comes. I have a similar problem with my San Disk 128 GB card. The message is shown, when I insert the card with pictures on it in the camera and goes away, when I press any button. pgh Posted November 25, 2017 Share #9 Posted November 25, 2017 To those saying don't delete in camera...this makes no sense. It's a function of the camera. It should work like it is supposed to. It's like saying 'don't use ISO 800' - if it doesn't work, and you've done the troubleshooting necessary - send it back - tell them that for 7k, this shit should work. Every button should work. Leica need to brush up on their QC. For all of the issues my M8 and M10 have had, I've never had problems deleting pics.

tobey bilek Posted November 25, 2017 Share #11 Posted November 25, 2017 Only time to delete in camera is if is the last pic. If you want the pics all fragmented, just pull some from the middle. Delete means location can be overwritten, Does not mean gone. And you leave the instructions to find the original image in the card directory which will lead to false message of card full. Format deletes image files and erases directory (table of contents). This preserves the algorithm to allocate space consecutively so as to equalize wear. Do not format or delete in computer. Do not move the card to new camera.

pico Posted November 25, 2017 Share #13 Posted November 25, 2017 Only time to delete in camera is if is the last pic. Wear leveling means, in part, that the last picture stored is not at the end of an allocation list - the physical location could be anywhere. Addresses are not necessarily linear. Delete means that all, or part of the original image space is available for write, but not necessarily because wear leveling has priority. Consecutive physical allocation never happens. Format does delete the so-called directory, but he controlling structure for allocating bad blocks is protected, hidden, not available to format or any user file system. SD cards typically have as much as 50% faulty cells which are mapped, excluded from allocation as they are discovered during use, attempted storage, and again that table is not available to format.
