With my Noctilux, I discovered that the dof is not there :( , and almost all photos are really overexposed in sunlight, even ISO200 is used.

What do other than "1" numbers mean (1.4  2  2.8 4  5.6 8 etc.), have never used those settings :o .

Obvious - they are a measure of how much too bright it is to use your Noctilux. Fitting an aperture diaphragm to lenses had become a habit by the time the Noctilux was made, so one was fitted.

Where have all the rumors gone about the "new Noctilux family" ?

Already CLosed?

Leica manage to take time testing before release New Noctilux TL lenses.

The most difficult decision is to put or not on the lenses the infamous aperture ring.

Not excited..... I feel very comfortable with the summicron family. Weight, size, quality all winners for me. Sure there is the rare occasion of not being able to get a swallow enough dof, but for me .... I just turn the page, roll forward, and keep shooting. Maybe I'm missing something in the discussion but I never carry more than 2 lens at a time, so I NEVER have every option available in EVERY situation.

An 0.95/35mm Noctilux would not cause much worries for the rangefinder - as long as it is properly adjusted.

So if Leica really offered the much rumored "Noctilux" for 75mm - they would make a statement: forget the rangefinder and use EVF.

A 75mm Noctilux (at f 1.25 or something) would be a statement by Leica: we are only interested in our customers spending huge sums of money. We are not interested in the usabilty of our lenses.

While a 0.95/35mm Noctilux would indeed not cause much worries for the rangefinder - what about the viewfinder?

To me, extreme viewfinder blockage is even more critical than rangefinder accuracy.

For both rumored Noctilux lenses, the SL will be a much better choice than an M camera.

75/1.25 was posted by Leica on Facebook.

Can‘t wait for the „too big & too heavy“ guys.

Looks like a perfect lens if you need a fast 75, in my opinion.

The presentation will be at 721–725 Fifth Avenue between 56th and 57th Streets in Midtown Manhattan, New York City.

Great place for showing the world something huge.

How likely is a 35mm Nocti and what do you think of it in terms of size if it would come?

It depends on the design goals, but I'd say it would be similar to the 35 Summilux but a bit fatter, say E55 instead of E46 filters.

The opening only needs to be ~37mm for a 0.95/35mm, the size it becomes above that is down to how technically perfect you want it.

An F1 or F0.95 35mm is very unlikely IMO. More likely F1.2 and E49 (if that works). A more pertinent question IMO is why a 35mm Noctilux at all?

Why not?

Well a 35mm 1.2 Noctilux would have little appeal to those already owning a Summilux. But to someone new to Leica or someone who wants something faster than their summicron or a new 35, then they may be more interested.

Personally I don't think an 0.95 or f1 35mm Noctilux is very unlikely and I would have an interest in that.

In mean time...

Found another Noctilux 1 without those numbers, and one "L Ultrasonic" without any exotic numbers, :p at left much bigger/heavier AF for same optical specifications:
