fotografr Posted November 5, 2017 Share #1  Posted November 5, 2017 Advertisement (gone after registration) I'm not posting this as a strong image, but rather just to illustrate the story that goes with it.  I was out walking with my Monochrom and 50mm Summilux when I heard a cacophony of birds overhead making distress calls. I looked up and saw this large flock of sparrows in one side of a tree and a Cooper's Hawk perched on the other side. Quite likely the hawk was trying to decide which bird to snack on. Suddenly, three large crows came flying in and landed just a few feet from the hawk, putting themselves between it and the sparrows. The crows then took turns swooping at the hawk, one actually striking it, until the hawk had enough and flew off with the crows in hot pursuit. When they were out of sight, the sparrows calmed down, went back to their normal chirping and I continued walking, rather amazed by the sequence I'd just witnessed. Welcome, dear visitor! North / Northwest Posted November 7, 2017 Share #3 Â Posted November 7, 2017 Watching nature is always interesting to me. You saw first hand the interaction between the hunter and the hunted. It knew crows would run off birds but not a hawk. Glad you posted this information.
