wlaidlaw Posted November 9, 2018 Share #41 Posted November 9, 2018 Advertisement (gone after registration) I was about to order some but my M7 broke yesterday (jammed shutter release). I had hoped to take it and Ektachrome to the USA leaving on the 20th but unless Mr. Starkie can wave his magic wand rapidly over my M7, it looks doubtful. I could take my M4-P but as most of my shots are going to be indoors, that means taking the SF-40 TTL flash for my digital CL and a PC cord auto-flash (Metz MZ32) for the M4-P, whereas the SF-40 would have done for both the CL and M7. 😪 There are a few UK sellers on eBay offering multi-buys at around £16 per roll. Wilson At the moment it looks like a six month wait for work to be carried out by Cameraworks UK. I've had a lens with them since early July and it's still showing as awaiting repair. I don't mind the wait but they are not answering E mails concerning a camera I sent to them a little later and which, at the moment, I don't expect back before next summer. gbealnz Posted November 15, 2018 Share #46 Posted November 15, 2018 Hey, my backyard too. Wasn't too impressed with the film though, but to be fair by his own admission, not a prolific colour user. The next comparison could be interesting though. Gary

I strongly disagree with everything the vlogger said about colour film photography vs digital. It is absolute garbage, as is the inference that the blown highlights in the vlogger’s images are something to do with the film, the processing and/or the scanning. This is simply not true and is purely down to his inexperience, his lack of understanding of the nature of transparency film and his inability to control his exposures properly. There is far more to landscape photography than pointing a camera at something and pressing the shutter release and to attempt to pass off this approach as an appraisal of E100 is misleading. This vlogger has a long way to go before I could begin to take his film vs digital comparisons seriously. wlaidlaw Posted November 15, 2018 Share #49 Posted November 15, 2018 I have bought a couple of rolls of E100 as a test and to compare with my preferred reversal film (but sadly now no longer made) Agfa Precisa CT100. I still have 22 rolls of Precisa in cold storage which is about three years supply for me. Now that I scan to RAW/DNG with my SL and a Leitz BEOON, bulk correcting the cool colour temperatures of Provia and Velvia is much easier. Precisa corrected this with a warming substrate, which to my eyes, gives better out of the box colours than Fuji Provia 100F made with the same emulsion. My local (4 miles away) photoshop, who used to be Leica dealers but still carry a wide stock of film, are H.A.Baker in Lewes, UK. They had reasonable stocks of E100. Wilson you will enjoy the deep rich but not oversaturated look of the ektachrome -- try it in twilight hours, I think its magical
