Zeiss ZM 21 f/2.8 on SL?

I am interested in a 21mm lens for my SL and am considering the Super Elmar 21 f/3.5, CV 21 f/1.8 Ultron and the Zeiss ZM 21 f/2.8. I realize that many people adore the SEM, but some of the images that I have seen appear a bit flat and "clinical," possibly the result of a high degree of correction using ED glass. Other people swear by the CV, but it is fairly large and heavy. Although I have searched, I have not been able to find any information about the Zeiss on the SL. It is an older design, and I wonder how it performs on the Leica sensor. Mostly, I want a lens that has a good dose of depth rendering and 3D pop.

Any thoughts will be appreciated.

Thanks,

Rob

I have the Zeiss in a drawer.   I used it on my M8 as a 28mm-equivalent.  No claims about "pop," which has some dependence on the eye of the beholder, but it was clearly superior to the CV and I didn't have either of later Leica 21s at that time.  I'll check it out this afternoon.

I am using the Zeiss BIOGON 21mm ZM

And i have thought about selling this lens, but thinking about it is a small tiny lens with very good performance, and in case of using a small system (haha... SL and small....) i prefer this 21mm and 90mm APO Cron. This fits perfect to me.

I found my copy.  It still has its Leica-supplied IR filter installed.  Took a few quick test shots around the house.  Wide open it is a little soft in the corners, but at f/5.6 it is sharp and contrasty.  In the first picture below I had good detail in the highlights that I brought down and in the shadows that I brought up...

Have you thought about the Leica R Vario-Elmar 21-35/3.5-4. I use it on my SL and am very happy with the flexibility it allows. Lightroom has a profile for it as does the SL.

No, I had not considered it, but I will check it out. In general, I prefer prime lenses.
