Michelle.

I met this woman on the street several years ago and she agreed to allow me to take her photograph. I returned the next week to give her a print but she was not around, and of course none of the other regulars knew where she had gone. Over the next months and now years I've kept an eye out for her to see how she has faired but have never seen her again.

Does anyone else here feel differently about photographing on the street in analog v. digital?  For some weird reason I feel more connected to my subjects with film, more inclined to approach them and ask for a photo as opposed to shooting from a "safe distance".  Maybe something with the uncertainty of the final outcome rather than chimping immediately after the shot?

Mike.

This is Mike. He has "owned" his corner for 16 years selling the local homeless newspaper for his living expenses.  I spoke to Mike several times a week for over a year while on my lunch time walks before asking for his portrait as he was very good at avoiding tourists with cameras.  He was always on the same corner so I brought him prints in a couple of sizes and continued our brief conversations for another couple of years.  I've not seen him since COVID so don't know what happened to him.

I know I've shared this image before but it ties into the portrait of Michelle above with the same question about the connection to your subject in analog v. digital.

Thank you, Dave

And one more portrait, this is Gary.

I met Gary near Pioneer Square only once several years ago. I tired to get to know him a bit like with my analog shots but this image never has really connected with me.
