Hello,

Does Leica produce protection bags for bodies like they do for lenses. I'm talking about light bags that comes with the lenses. In particular I have Leica SL and I would like to have such a bag to protect the body from dust while it stands on the shelf.

I don't remember if I got one when I bought the body, and I don't think I throw it away. Is there a way to order just a bag for a lens? Question applies to other manufacturers if Leica does not have an official one.

When I flew frequently, business class goodies came in bags that were perfect for this.

Look for "washing kit" bags - they come in all shapes and sizes. I have one from Dove which perfectly holds a Panasonic GX7 plus 12-40/2.8 lens and another that holds a M7.

Or look for bags for lenses.

Or sew your own from a square of thick cotton or denim.

Another option is using a Domke or Lowepro wrap, both of which come in several sizes. The inside fabric appears to be nylon; the outside fabric appears to be microfiber. Velcro closures are on each corner. I used a 15-inch Domke wrap for the attached photos.

I like the Artisan & Artist ACAM-75 and similar as a solid little "body bag" for the SL or M, with or without a small lens fitted. It's only downside is that it's a bit pricey.

I tend to avoid Neoprene for this use as some neoprene can outgas over time and deposit a thin film onto the equipment wrapped in it. (Optech uses very good quality neoprene, however, so it's not too much of a problem with their products.)
