jpattison Posted September 5, 2017 Share #1  Posted September 5, 2017 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi I've noticed an error in the wiki entry for the 135mm f2.8 Elmarit M type II.  https://www.l-camera-forum.com/leica-wiki.en/index.php/135mm_f/2.8_Elmarit-M_II  it shows:  Filter type - E55 - A63.7 Accessories - Filter-ring: 14161  The Filter type is Series VII  for this version. (hence the need for the ring).  I've also noticed the 14161 retaining ring shows "VII" opposite its part number, but I own a later 14225 retaining ring showing "7" opposite its number.  Is the 14225 an R accessory?  P.S. Can someone update the entry, please.  Thanks, John

luigi bertolotti Posted September 6, 2017 Share #3 Â Posted September 6, 2017 (edited) John, the Wiki hosts several small inaccuracies... if you want, you can register officially to the contributors' list and can manage the content (see bottom of main page) : it's a sort of "community within a community", makes use of a Software Platform of its own (based on pages/content, not on topics/discussions), and the posts in the normal LUF areas can often have no practical effect on Wiki content, because it's all up to "casual" reading of LUF content by Wiki contributors. Michael Geschlecht Posted September 8, 2017 Share #4 Â Posted September 8, 2017 Hello Everybody, Â There have been some Leitz lenses that were supplied originally with a Filter Ring that had 1 reference number. If you ordered a replacement you had to order an equivalent ring with a different reference number. Â The 2 different numbers above might be an example of this. Â I will check & it would be helpful if other people who have references from the 1960's,1970's & 1980's could check also. Â Best Regards, Â Michael
jpattison Posted September 8, 2017 Author Share #5  Posted September 8, 2017 Hello Everybody,  it would be helpful if other people who have references from the 1960's,1970's & 1980's could check also.  Michael   Oops!  I had the info all the time:  Dennis Laney "Leica Collector's guide" 2nd edition page 394  14161 = series VII E49 14225 = series VII E55  So, when they made the MkIII lens with E55, you could use your old series filters.  14160 = Series VI E44 (no replacement)  14165 = Series VIII E72 14264 = Series VIII E67  Best Regards, John
