julianf73 Posted July 9, 2017 Share #1 Posted July 9, 2017 Advertisement (gone after registration) I am noticing this pattern on a lot of my images lately. Taken with an M9, that already had its sensor replaced 2 years ago. Is this sensor corrosion, or are my eyes fooled by digital "grain"? (this is an enlargement of a small section of the image) Thanks for the input! Welcome, dear visitor! Luke_Miller Posted July 9, 2017 Share #2 Posted July 9, 2017 I don't see anything that resembles corrosion. Possibly jpeg artifacts?
pop Posted July 9, 2017 Share #3 Posted July 9, 2017 This could be caused by excessive compression when storing the image in the JPEG format. Also, it seems that you enlarged the part of the picture to more than 100% of its original size. This tends to cause artefacts similar to those in your sample. happymac Posted July 10, 2017 Share #4 Posted July 10, 2017 Seems to be developed with Adobe Lightroom. Try developing the same raw picture with Capture One Pro (download the tryout version) and the artifacts, grain, or whatever this may be, will be gone. jaapv Posted July 11, 2017 Share #6 Posted July 11, 2017 I would say noise and incorrect sharpening and noise reduction settings. Maybe processed in 8 bits too.
