OK thanks so the screen can be switched off in LV mode while the EVF can be used if i understand well. This would allow photogs to do spot metering or multi-field in RF mode w/o being bothered by the screen wouldn't it? Just curious as i have no experience with the M10 sorry.

As someone has said, in spite of by Menu were selected, neither spot nor multi-field can be used unless LV was present in the screen or the visoflex. If you wish one or the other you should have the help of a separate hand meter.

IMHO Leica selects with scarcity the options or the alternatives in the cameras not to introduce so many possibilities that the photographers were forced to decide among them every moment. and cicunstance. Contrary to what many do. And it is well done. Leica and her followers have this ADN.

For spot metering, I applaude Leica for simplicity of use with M10.

Experimenting sometime with moving the spot around with the pads is rewarding.

Minutes ago, in my office, with open window and plenty of contrast, I played around moving the spot and discovered that there is no way to have a decent exposure (thing that I know).

Have to choose an exposure value with this clever spot metering help of M10 and no need of bracketting (or small amount of frames ;) ).

In the MENU, LV and EVF can both be switched off.

Just took time to do that.

In this case, pushing LV button have no action on LCD screen with or without Visoflex and Visoflex view off also.

Odd thing also, the control can be switched to EVF only, and this leaves the rear LCD always off, good choice for me.

Then I want to know if one take out the Visoflex after that action "Control to EVF", and what would happen.

Happily, when no Visoflex, the rear LCD is usable for MENU and INFO, even it's "disable" in previous set-up.

LV button is off as before.

Just to clairify...no you cant "switch" both screens off. You can DISABLE LV completely...but this is not the same thing.

You can select the EVF as the only LV screen and still use your spot meter without the LCD. But you cant turn off both displays AND have LV enabled.

You can define which screen is used for LV, playback and image review. The options are Auto, EVF, LCD. You also have the option to disable LV in this menu.

I don't want to use, or have the LCD screen on, an EVF. I prefer the good old OVF rangefinder but still like the choice of metering methods.

You have this right now. I shoot with the OVF and LV enabled all the time, especially when shooting with the Noctilux. Its nice to be able to quickly move my eye back and forth between the EVF and OVF and focus with the best tool for the shot. Just select the EVF as the primary LV screen and ignore it if you don't want it. Its never got in my way...and its actually a benefit to have the other option readily available. I have a profile set with this setup so its a quick selection.

As already pointed out you also now have the ability to move the spot meter around and this is impossible w/o the screen.

Id suggest you try it before you dismiss the idea...it seems silly to say this is the one reason you won't buy an M10.

What makes the M10 special is the lack of bloated features.

It's not silly. I just don't NEED or want an M-10 just yet.

I'll wait and see how this and some other things shake out.

I'm perfectly happy with what I have and it works well for me ... for now.
