Irakly Shanidze Posted July 2, 2017 Share #2 Â Posted July 2, 2017 Well, putting Sigma lenses on this camera seems like a very counterproductive thing to do anyway. So, I would consider it a blessing ))

Irakly Shanidze Posted July 2, 2017 Share #5 Â Posted July 2, 2017 Perhaps in the past but the new Art lenses are better than anything else on the market. Â I actually wrote a whole article on morbid modern tendencies in lens design favoring resolving power over micro contrast, which Sigma Art is a champion of. So, not to repeat myself, here is the link. Â http://www.artphotoacademy.com/the-leica-look/
scott kirkpatrick Posted July 3, 2017 Share #6 Â Posted July 3, 2017 Thanks for the link to a very thought-provoking article, "Yes, Virginia there IS a Leica look," with good examples and explanations. Â Now, however, I will be obsessed with seeking the"nuance of fugacity and spontaneity inherent to impressionism" when I am out and about with my M10 and my exceptionally glowy collapsible 50 Summicron. So, I would consider it a blessing )) I would rather say that one of SLs advantages, due to its short flange distance, is that you can put an (almost) endless number of lenses on the body, ranging from very expensive and technically 'perfect' optics, to cheaper/cheap optics with varying fingerprints. Â Many of the new Sigma ART lenses are certainly fine, therefore the interest in the electronic EOS and Nikon adapters.

No, I just tried the Sigma 24mm on the SL with firmware 3.0 and it focuses fine. What lens did your friend use?
rafael_macia Posted July 4, 2017 Share #9 Â Posted July 4, 2017 I have been using the Novoflex adapter with the Canon 17 f4 tilt shift lens. The adapter facilitates changing the aperture. When I added a second SL body, and went to use the 17, it would not work on the second body. I took back the second body, which was a so-called demo body, and exchanged it for a brand new SL. The Novoflex adapter with the 17 Canon works, on both bodies now. Both bodies have the latest firmware installed. Â When I first had the problem of the Canon tilt lens not showing the aperture in the display, and thus not allowing any adjustment, I thought to try the the adapter with another lens; I tried it with a Sigma 8-16 HSM and tried the autofocus......the Sigma with the Novoflex adapter would also not work, on the second body, but worked on the first body. The same as the Canon tilt shift lens. Â The malfunction was intermittent, suddenly it would work, after I slipped out the battery and re inserted it, and turned the SL on and off. But it would only work for a short time. My thought is that the Novoflex adapter is not 100% compatible with the FW update.
trond Posted July 5, 2017 Share #10  Posted July 5, 2017 A friend of mine reported that after the firmware update, the Novoflex EOS adapter and Sigma lenses no longer works. I am away on vacation and did not bring a Sigma lens along, so I cannot check mine. Have other users experienced similar problems?  Dear Ivar,  I re-tested yesterday with Sigma ART 20mm, 50mm and 85mm.  There is no change in the function of the Novoflex EOS adapter with firmware 3.0.  Sigma ART 20mm: very quick autofocus, as with previous FW Sigma ART 50mm: no autofocus, but works nicely with manual focus. This is the same as with previous FW Sigma ART 85mm: acceptabel auto focus speed, as with previous FW  If anything, I sense that the stability with Sigma ART 85mm seems to be improved, as I have not experienced any lock-up of the SL with the new FW.  Best regards  Trond
