TheVanguard Posted June 26, 2017 Share #1 Posted June 26, 2017 Advertisement (gone after registration) So I just moved to Leica from Canon...was told I might have to wait a couple of months for the M10.. couple of months came and went and now was told another 4 to 5...so I went ahead and got an ME to use in the mean time, I checked out the whole sensor corrosion thing but was reassured that Leica would replace for free if I ever needed it...yeah great timing on my part!! So i took a picture at f16 and there is definatly some marks that are not moving after a very thorough clean with a Giottos rocket air cleaner...is this just dust or early sensor corrosion? Any help appreciated Thanks Welcome, dear visitor! As registered member you'd see an image here… Simply register for free here – We are always happy to welcome new members! Robert M Poole Posted June 26, 2017 Share #2 Posted June 26, 2017 The halos would suggest corrosion but it's hard to tell. Get Leica to check it, hopefully it is

Rus Posted June 26, 2017 Share #4 Posted June 26, 2017 Looks more like dust than corrosion to me. Sometimes lingering dust spots may also be from the rear element of the lens used. I had a similar false alarm just a few days ago.
jaapv Posted June 26, 2017 Share #5 Posted June 26, 2017 When in doubt, send it in.
Hallstein Posted June 26, 2017 Share #6 Posted June 26, 2017 I had spots just like these. Dust blower did nothing. Sent the camera in to my country's importer of leica products for cleaning, and they said it only got worse during sensor cleaning, so they sent it to Wetzlar. The importer said it might be corrosion in the earliest stages.
250swb Posted June 29, 2017 Share #7 Posted June 29, 2017 Advertisement (gone after registration) There is no such thing as a 'thorough clean' using a Rocket Blower, it will not remove sticky dust or oil spots. When in doubt clean it properly and if spots remain then send it in.
