Sandokan Posted June 23, 2007 Share #1 Posted June 23, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi, Does Leica still own Minox or was there a management buyout? I have a Minox M3 digital replica - can I post photos from that here? So far I would say the quality is "poor" but I have some interesting images. Also, what about images from the Minox 35ML? I guess not from this camera as it had nothing to do with Leica. I just got some results back and was amazed and how great the images were. Not comparable to the M, but damned good all things considered. Yours Ravi

marknorton Posted June 27, 2007 Share #3 Posted June 27, 2007 Minox are busy prostituting the brand name anywhere where it will fit. On a recent BA flight, they were trying to sell Minox branded MP3 players...
luigi bertolotti Posted June 27, 2007 Share #4 Posted June 27, 2007 I also remember to have red somewhere they sold Minox...and really seems they are devoted to gadgeting...the "M3" is a sort of toy... but I was tempted by the low price of the "Rolleiflex" I saw in a shop... 2MP, seem to remember...and a fine look... earleygallery Posted June 27, 2007 Share #5 Posted June 27, 2007 I have a Minox ML, it must be about the smallest, lightest FF 35mm camera. A great street camera really but I haven't used it for ages. The downside is 'guestimate' focussing and the lens can be soft at the edges. I would post a photo but...... I read that the lens is basically the same as the Elmar.

Yes, Minox ML and its "brothers" were beautiful cameras (I remember other very similar models : G, GT or so...) ; years and years ago (20 ?) they had a moment of great success within mountaineers : supercompact when closed, robust, light, right focal length... only the Rollei 35 (I still have one) was comparable: I don't remember which was the leader in smallest dimensions but, at memory, I'd say about the same L and H, Minox less deep... It was using A Minox that lead me into the world of rangefinders and ultimately to a M6. I have attached a couple of images taken with an old EL, shot on TMax 400. I am still amazed at the image quality. Andrew
