You just taught us a correct identification. Forgive my uneducated post. We have been calling those birds sap-suckers for fifty years. Thank you professor. I'm up North and have some great stuff in the can.

Thank you.  All I knew about it was it was in the woodpecker family.  I had to look it up.  Independently, barbara looked it up too and learned it's common in our area -- that was the first time either of us have seen one.
