BJohn Posted June 21, 2017 Author Share #41 Posted June 21, 2017 Advertisement (gone after registration) Maybe comparing the 2nd hand prices of the 24mm Summilux to the new 28mm lenses ? Yeah, I thought about that too. Looking at my photographs from the past, I mostly captured images with a 28mm and a 50mm. So after moving to Leica, it feels kind of natural to acquire lenses covering these focal lengths. Of course, I also used a 24mm occasionally but taking the framelines into account for my consideration, I clearly want a 28mm. But I have to admit, you clearly have a point there looking at 2nd hand prices of the SL24.

Let's see how long I'm going to be satisfied with the combination of SL28+SL50. A very, very long time. I have this combination (along with the 28 Summaron & Noctilux), and it is very special, I think
IkarusJohn Posted September 12, 2017 Share #48 Posted September 12, 2017 Really? Even if it's "huge"? You're kidding, right? The Otus is huge, the 28-Summilux is bigger than the Summaron, Elmarit and Summicron, but "huge" it isn't.

I guess I am kind of late to that post. I posted some photographs in the following thread: It most definitely works for me and I can only speak for myself: I absolutely love that lens, the character, the dreamy look, the subject separation, how it handles light spots, even the sometimes busy bokeh is just about right for me! I don't think that the lens elevates my photography in the way that because of the lens I take better pictures but it really is a driver for me to take more and more pictures. A bad picture remains a bad picture but when I hit the spot, when my creativity kicks in, when the composition is good, when the light is with me, every single picture, at least for me, is just breath taking.
