Advertisement Posted November 12, 2017 Posted November 12, 2017 Hi Bill W, Take a look here Going for broke M10 vs 262. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
tobey bilek Posted November 13, 2017 Share #22 Posted November 13, 2017 I'm thinking about selling 262 for M10 as well. Where did you sell your old camera? I don't quite trust posting on ebay. There seems to be too much fraud going on. And they back buyers, not sellers when things go south. I have heard of items being returned and they were damaged or defective of what was sent. Guess who Ebay backs. too many scams
jay968 Posted November 23, 2017 Share #23 Posted November 23, 2017 I went from a 262 to an M10 and have some thoughts. Advantages of M10: Thinner body is very nice. It's just fits in my hand better EVF is very nice to have in a pinch (when shooting with 90 and longer or 24 and wider lenses) and it's a major improvement over the one used with the M240. Much better low light performance. Not even close. Disadvantages: I think that the much touted optical viewfinder is not any better as claimed. At least not to my eyes. As a matter of fact, it being bigger just has too much room when viewing through. I can shift my eye around a bit and in doing so, it does some strange things to the frame lines. They only line up straight when your eye is looking through smack in the center. I also see no difference whatsoever in the rangefinder patch. To me it is no easier nor more difficult to focus than any previous Leica I have ever used. While I have not had the camera long enough, so far I am not seeing that the normal ISO files look that great. To be honest, they are over saturated and must rely on post processing to tame them. Reds especially are unrealistic. If I owned neither, I would opt for the M10 mainly for the thinner body, EVF accessory and low light capabilities. But the 262 is a wonderful camera as well and if the M10 advantages that I mentioned aren't important and the price difference is, I would no hesitate to go with it instead. jlindstrom Posted December 6, 2017 Share #24 Posted December 6, 2017 Go for the M10. I part-ex’d my M262 for the M10 and have zero regrets.
Narsuitus Posted December 6, 2017 Share #25 Posted December 6, 2017 When I was shopping, I compared the M262 to the Fuji X-Pro1. I decided on the X-Pro1. Last month, I received an email from the local Leica dealer (Tamarkin) were I had tested the M262. He informed me that he had received a few M10 bodies and since I had expressed an interest in Leica digitals, if I was still interested, he would hold one for me. The next day I went to test the M10 with the thought that I probably would not like it. I was wrong. I loved it. It handled like my M6, it was compatible with my Leica lenses, and the rangefinder focusing was just what I needed.
ajayk Posted September 22, 2018 Share #26 Posted September 22, 2018 I was tired of upgrading right from M8 to M9 and then 262. I did a better and cheaper thing, bought a Sony A7R3 and a M mount adapter. With my ageing eyes now focus has become easier and I can still use all my Leica and Voigtlander M lenses. This option also costed me only $3000 and will save tension of sending M’s for viewfinder alignment when I am left with no body.
Paulus Posted September 22, 2018 Share #27 Posted September 22, 2018 Advertisement (gone after registration) Last year I sold my M 8 and all my Canon gear and waited for the M 10. Just got a call from my dealer and he has a silver M 10 with my name on it. Now I am getting cold feet...Yes the M 10 has better magnification for my aging eyes, faster buffer, thinner body ( like my M3), better screen. But as someone who does this only for fun. Is the M 10 really worth $1000.00 USD more than the 262? I saved my 35 mm and 50 mm for my new camera, but now I am getting crazy. M 10 or 262? Someone talk me off the ledge!! Cheers. If you can wait another 7-11 months , you might buy the M10 for € 1000,- less or buy a used one for € 3000,- less.
