Advertisement Posted May 19, 2017 Posted May 19, 2017 Hi Jeff S, Take a look here ISO capabilities of the SL. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Guest NEIL-D-WILLIAMS Posted May 19, 2017 Share #22 Posted May 19, 2017 Hay the only lens I think I need to worry about is the 21mm SEM if shooting at night, but in reality if I am using that lens its going to be a large scene so no big deal. At night I will have the Noctilux on the SL and as we all know the noctilux is the lens of the night :) Neil

FlashGordonPhotography Posted May 20, 2017 Share #26 Posted May 20, 2017 Floating ISO.... Because the zooms have a variable aperture (2.8-4) you can set the ISO to "float". That means if you set shutter and aperture values and then zoom the lens, the ISO will automatically change with the variable aperture to keep the exposure the same overall. "Float" will appear in the viewfinder when this occurs. Last thing you'd want shooting a video (for example) is for the exposure to change if you zoom in during a shot. appleman Posted May 22, 2017 Share #27 Posted May 22, 2017 Advertisement (gone after registration) Ive just looked through the ISO menu and I see floating ISO WTF is that??? You let the camera choose the ISO after selecting aperture and shutter speed.
Jeff S Posted May 23, 2017 Share #28 Posted May 23, 2017 You let the camera choose the ISO after selecting aperture and shutter speed. That's common auto ISO...see post above yours for floating ISO. Jeff
scott kirkpatrick Posted May 24, 2017 Share #29 Posted May 24, 2017 (edited) As a guess, floating ISO is meant to correct for the change in aperture that occurs, when wide open, as you change focal length in one of the Vario-Elmarit SL zooms. So it should work even when ISO is fixed by adding a limited correction. scott Oh, Gordon previously said the same thing. gvaliquette Posted May 26, 2017 Share #30 Posted May 26, 2017 You seem to be holding the selfie stick very high up for some reason ..... So, you both found a way to fit a Leica on the end of a selfie stick! WOW! Please share.
thighslapper Posted May 26, 2017 Share #31 Posted May 26, 2017 So, you both found a way to fit a Leica on the end of a selfie stick! WOW! Please share. Neil has changed his avatar ...... it was an orang-utan with it's arm up ...... then his photo with 3 red stripes ...... and now nothing. He has also gone quiet which either means he's on holiday (again) ...... or they are actually making him do some work instead of posting on the Leica Forum. Anyway ..... hope he is well and hasn't suffered some calamity as a result of advice following his request on Barnacks Bar for some alternatives to Viagra ....
