ziqiliow Posted May 19, 2017 Share #1 Posted May 19, 2017 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi, I have a Leica M-A for a while now but suddenly the base plate won't close with or without the film being loaded. It seems that there is something physically preventing it from closing. I have attached a picture. Does anyone know how to fix this problem? Welcome, dear visitor! 01af Posted May 19, 2017 Share #2 Posted May 19, 2017 Are you closing the back flap properly before attaching the base plate?
Stealth3kpl Posted May 20, 2017 Share #3 Posted May 20, 2017 Post a video of what you are doing. Is the lock in the correct position? Have you the base the right way round? Pete

wattsy Posted May 22, 2017 Share #5 Posted May 22, 2017 (edited) The OP has had the camera "for a while now" so I rather doubt he or she has forgotten how to attach the baseplate. That said, there isn't enough information in the post to guess what might have happened. Does the baseplate still attach (just not close/lock) or does it not actually go on to the camera now? If the latter, I can only imagine that the frame counter reset nub has jammed or something like that. If the former (just doesn't lock), I imagine the screw holding the locking mechanism might need adjusting. The baseplate and locking mechanism is a very simple affair so close examination of what is going on should reveal the source of the problem. Agreed, but in some cameras the film contains pictures of Christmas from more than one year The posted picture is presumably the problem area in stopping the baseplate closing. But of course that isn't the end that closes, the lock is at the other end of the camera. Are they trying to mount the baseplate backwards?
