Hi all,

Just a quick question pls. Am a bit confused re build and weights of the 35mm FLE in black v silver. Are they both anodised aluminium now so same weight? Or is the silver made of brass and heavier?

I know this case with the Cron.

Thanks.

Found the answer - lots of confusion out there on the internet (people comparing older models where chrome lenses were heavier).

Answer is that latest models are same weight.

The new Leica Summilux-M 35mm f/1.4 ASPH in Silver Anodized Finish is optically and mechanically identical to the black chrome version, and weighs the same thanks to its aluminum construction. 35 mm lenses are the most popular in the M-System. Their mixture of moderate wide angle characteristics paired with natural dimensions make this focal length extremely versatile. Often, it is the first choice on a new M camera, and therefore many famous pictures have been taken with a 35 mm lens.

I have the chrom and black FLE versions and I can confirm they are of the same weight. The Chrom lens is anodized as noted and not made of brass.

I have the preFLE chrom version as well and it is noticeably heavier as it is indeed made of brass and is smoother to operate and the aperture mechanism is a lot more solid.
