Smoothlander Posted May 10, 2017 Share #1 Posted May 10, 2017 Advertisement (gone after registration) I don't need to ask whether I should or I shouldn't. I'm taking my Q, confident in the camera's ability to take great shots.....provided I have the ability to compose those great shots.

Smoothlander Posted May 10, 2017 Author Share #4 Posted May 10, 2017 I should've mentioned it's a business trip but I have some time on Monday to stroll around. I've never been to Singapore but have been told to stroll the Padang for colonial architecture, Chinatown and Little India. In addition I was told to consider Arab Street, Kampong Glam and Emerald Hill. Not sure how close everything is to my hotel so will have to figure it out on Monday. If anyone has local Singapore knowledge, please let me know what may or may not be good spots for picture taking. I'll be staying at the Regent hotel if that helps location wise. Ruz Posted May 10, 2017 Share #5 Posted May 10, 2017 Im living in Singapore, marina bay is a great place to take some landscapes. Chinatown, and arab street are great for street photos. Sunset will be great to take from marina barrage area. Sunrise are great around the airport area. Take some tripods with you and do some shooting around! LocalHero1953 Posted May 10, 2017 Share #7 Posted May 10, 2017 Advertisement (gone after registration) If you have enough time, go to the orchid garden within the Botanical Gardens. Spectacular! It's forerunner was founded by Stamford Raffles, who, in passing, founded Singapore as well. Avoid the Long Bar at the Raffles Hotel - it's full of nuts, pigeons after the nuts and, obviously, a lot of pigeon shit.

Oh, he should go to the Long Bar once and have a Singapore Sling which was invented there. Singapore is a beautiful, fun city. HIGHLY recommend the orchid garden. beez Posted May 10, 2017 Share #9 Posted May 10, 2017 I agree with the choices of the orchid garden Chinatown, and the Marina Bay area. There's a large infinity pool that's part of a huge park on the rooftop of the Marina Bay Sands that's 57 stories up in the air that's a spectacular view. Also see if you can have a local drive you over to Sentosa Island. Last time I was there, you had to be with a local resident to get over there. The view west and south from there at sunset can make for nice pictures. Here's one I shot from there a few years ago.
Ruz Posted May 11, 2017 Share #10 Posted May 11, 2017 sadly, the raffles hotel is closed for renovation.
