fotografr Posted May 10, 2017 Share #1  Posted May 10, 2017 Advertisement (gone after registration) I glanced out my back window a few minutes ago because I heard a red-winged blackbird making a distress call. This Cooper's hawk was just a few feet away and the red-winged blackbird was going to die protecting its nest. I intervened. V114, Uncropped Welcome, dear visitor! platypus Posted May 10, 2017 Share #2 Â Posted May 10, 2017 This is lovely. I am constantly amazed (and delighted) by the variety and intricacy of the interaction amongst the bird life in your backyard.

fotografr Posted May 10, 2017 Author Share #5 Â Posted May 10, 2017 Dee, Euston and Jaap, thanks much. Dee, I've also been amazed by the bird activity here. I think it's partly that we've planted things that attract them, but also partly the effect of global warming. There are now bird species here that never used to venture this far north. Our growing zone has also changed in the same way.
