lct Posted April 7, 2017 Share #41  Posted April 7, 2017 Advertisement (gone after registration) [...] It's possible to get the 50 APO to show minor CA in extreme circumstances but for the most but it's CA free. It comes down to how much it is corrected. Not black and white.  Indeed but nobody knows how to get rid of sensor blooming either so better avoid overexposure anyway (50/2 apo, f/2):  Welcome, dear visitor! w44neg Posted April 7, 2017 Share #42 Â Posted April 7, 2017 I've just picked up a 50mm for my 240. I went for a Version IV Summicron because of the tab on the focus ring, the size, and the great images I've seen come from this type of lens. No it won't be as sharp as an APO but unless I find it severely lacking in one way or another, I'm sure it will be more than suitable. Looking forward to trying it out :-)
Carduelis Posted April 7, 2017 Share #43 Â Posted April 7, 2017 50 mm is my favoured focal length and I own a 50 mm Zeiss ZM Planar f2 lens and a 50 mm Leica ASPH Summilux 1.4 lens. Â If I am being picky, my main issue with Leica lenses is flare and I occasionally did have some flare issues when I owned a 50 mm Summicron M f2 lens and I read that flare was sometimes an issue when they first brought out the 50 mm APO Summicron lens. Â So I exchanged my 50 Summicron for the 50 ASPH Summilux lens where flare seems better controlled and am very pleased with the rendering of this lens. Â I cannot really fault this lens for portraiture and landscapes where f8 seems to negate any semblance of field curvature for the latter. Â I use the Zeiss lens as a lightweight alternative when hiking and it is also a fine lens. Â Â

Had or have the Summarit, all the older Summicrons, Elmar, Noctilux 1.2, Summilux II and ASPH.
NB23 Posted April 9, 2017 Share #45 Â Posted April 9, 2017 Not true. It's possible to get the 50 APO to show minor CA in extreme circumstances but for the most but it's CA free. It comes down to how much it is corrected. Not black and white. Â Â Â Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk "Depends on how much it is corrected". Well, this means that APO is BS, then. sblutter Posted April 11, 2017 Share #46  Posted April 11, 2017 Just had an 18 holiday shooting a lot - 2000+ captures. 240 & Summi 50 Ver 4 got heavy. Can't imagine my shoulders appreciated a 'Lux let alone a Nocti or APO
stephan54 Posted April 11, 2017 Share #47 Â Posted April 11, 2017 Advertisement (gone after registration) I had a Milvus 50 2.0 on my D700 but somehow missed the 1.4 for isolating subjects. With my switch to Leica I went for the Summilux 50 and am pretty satisfied with it.
