leicapages Posted March 21, 2017 Share #1 Posted March 21, 2017 Advertisement (gone after registration) Dear all: as it is now about two years that the Leica Q is on the market, and looking at update cycles for other Leica models, it would not be unwise to think that an update is in the making. Personally, while I do not miss much on the Leica Q, there are two items, which I think should be improved on a successor model: - adding a GPS module (like on the Leica S and SL), this is the biggest thing I miss on the Q. What were they thinking for that price and kind of camera? - giving the body more grip without the need to add extra ($) accessories. Pascal
Advertisement Posted March 21, 2017 Posted March 21, 2017 Hi leicapages, Take a look here Leica Q successor. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
robert_parker Posted March 21, 2017 Share #2 Posted March 21, 2017 I suppose for me it would be the possibility of a zoom, a native 35 or 50 lens, or detachable lenses, which would be nirvana
w44neg Posted March 21, 2017 Share #3 Posted March 21, 2017 A Q 35mm would be the only camera I need. One thing for me would be the Histogram live adjustment being available whilst adjusting the exposure comp dial.
garygraphy Posted March 22, 2017 Share #4 Posted March 22, 2017 Its gonna be like SL interchangeable with same mount type but in the size of Q with a pancake lens

Pascal There's already a thread about future Leica Q where people are debating about lenses, etc. FWIW I hope that Leica never releasse another Q, ever. It is perfect the way it is with all its quirks. GPS can be added with an external accessory (incorporated in a grip module, etc). Giving the body more grip would be impossible without changing the shape of the Q. And if they change the shape of the Q then it will be just another SL. The same goes for the different lenses people ask. If one wants interchangeable lenses, zooms, etc then buy an M or SL. If Leica releassed a Q with interchangeable lenses then the SL would be out of business and the M would likely see significant reduction in sales. jmschuh Posted March 27, 2017 Share #6 Posted March 27, 2017 Dear all: as it is now about two years that the Leica Q is on the market, and looking at update cycles for other Leica models, it would not be unwise to think that an update is in the making. The update cycle of Leica cameras is about 3 to 4 years. I see no reason for a successor. Perhaps we get a second Q with different focal length this year as an addition to the existing Leica Q. Everything else is quite unlikely.

For me, is fine as is and I prefer to add a case which gives me a little more grip and comfort and warmth of leather, plus looks great and protects the camera. Somebody else might prefer a larger grip for larger hands. Very personalized. I have another much larger camera with a huge grip but there is no hope for personalizing it with a case. So, hope Leica keeps the Q body as is, like they have done with the M for many many decades.
kb7001 Posted April 10, 2017 Share #8 Posted April 10, 2017 I agree with likalot. The Q is almost perfect as it is. (I could easily do without the the video or the wi-fi.)
mehtasunil Posted April 15, 2017 Share #9 Posted April 15, 2017 100% Agree with you on - adding a GPS module (like on the Leica S and SL), this is the biggest thing I miss on the Q. With "Q" so popular, some 3rd party should think of the Hot Shoe type solution.
millsart Posted April 16, 2017 Share #10 Posted April 16, 2017 I'd surely buy a 50mm f1.7 or even f2.0 Q, heck, I'd even buy a 75mm f2.0 Q (with crops for 90/135) Essentially I'd love to be able to do a good 90% of my photography with 2 Q camera bodies, would be a total dream
MalcolmSammut Posted April 18, 2017 Share #11 Posted April 18, 2017 a GPS module would be nice, however it might drain the battery faster on a day out shooting. I would love to see weather/dust sealing.
