Leica Q successor

Dear all:

as it is now about two years that the Leica Q is on the market, and looking at update cycles for other Leica models, it would not be unwise to think that an update is in the making. Personally, while I do not miss much on the Leica Q, there are two items, which I think should be improved on a successor model:

- adding a GPS module (like on the Leica S and SL), this is the biggest thing I miss on the Q. What were they thinking for that price and kind of camera?

- giving the body more grip without the need to add extra ($) accessories.

There's already a thread about future Leica Q where people are debating about lenses, etc. :)

FWIW I hope that Leica never releasse another Q, ever. It is perfect the way it is with all its quirks. GPS can be added with an external accessory (incorporated in a grip module, etc).

Giving the body more grip would be impossible without changing the shape of the Q. And if they change the shape of the Q then it will be just another SL. The same goes for the different lenses people ask. If one wants interchangeable lenses, zooms, etc then buy an M or SL. If Leica releassed a Q with interchangeable lenses then the SL would be out of business and the M would likely see significant reduction in sales.

The update cycle of Leica cameras is about 3 to 4 years. I see no reason for a successor. Perhaps we get a second Q with different focal length this year as an addition to the existing Leica Q. Everything else is quite unlikely.

I will only address the grip. For me, is fine as is and I prefer to add a case which gives me a little more grip and comfort and warmth of leather, plus looks great and protects the camera. Somebody else might prefer a larger grip for larger hands. Very personalized. I have another much larger camera with a huge grip but there is no hope for personalizing it with a case. So, hope Leica keeps the Q body as is, like they have done with the M for many many decades.
